Conversational English
The Conversational English program matches UW student volunteer tutors with UW students and affiliates looking to work on improving their English conversation skills.
Conversational English pairs will meet weekly for a total of two hours. Once you are matched with a partner, it’s up to the two of you when and where you would like to meet. Be creative- meet at the Union, teach your partner how to make your favorite food, or go ice skating together! The world is your classroom!

Co-hosted with International Student Services, the Conversational English Hour is an informal gathering of CE participants and other students on campus. Generally, we start with an activity or themed discussion, providing a few related idioms and vocabulary. From there, we let the conversation flow wherever it goes! Join us every Thursday from 4-6 p.m. at the MSC Lounge in the Red Gym.
Throughout the semester, Conversational English will organize or attend several events. Joining us is a great chance to practice English, while having fun and meeting others in the program. In the past, we’ve had a Halloween movie night, a St. Patrick’s Day celebration, a knitting night, and cookie decorating, just to name a few! Check out our Events Calendar for more details!
